The ancient crystalline platform covering Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the Kola Peninsula. Characterized by Archean bedrock, boreal forest, deep lakes, and harsh subarctic climate. Terrain is rugged, frost-shaped, and heavily glaciated, with thin soils and vast taiga. Population density is low except along southern coastal plains. This region is saturated with Nordic ecological identity—dark winters, cold seas, and a distinct north–south cultural gradient. It stands apart from continental Europe both physically and historically.
