There was a Young Man,

Who could not look away.

Always the same spot,

live long throughout the day.

He stared and stared,

and when he could not anymore,

He would increase his focus,

Or change his position on the floor.

You see he wouldnt say he is obsessed,

He wouldn’t say he had a need.

“Its just…” he tells us “…its so interesting…”

that he must under all circumstances proceed.

Soon his willful diligence had attracted quite a clutch

of rather useless people saying quite alot about not much.

Paying them no mind he persevered,

Ignoring their trite calls of “Garrish” and “Weird”.

What WAS IT in there?? He Churned in his mind,

Begging the great revealer to be kind.

Was it Silence he heard in response to his prayer?

Did he find the small still voice he hoped to be there?

The truth of the matter, I’ll tell you quite cleanly

It can be quite disturbing but is in no way unseemly

The Truth of the Matter, as it is to be known

That of his Thoughts, his knowledge self-grown.

That vine stays within him, nary a leaf can you see

Steadying from Within, Keeping him Free

A Liberty of Man now Seldom known,

The gift of being with your thoughts alone.

Stoic the Emperor did decree at length,

“You have power over your mind—not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
