SURAH 55 — Ar-Raḥmān — الرحمن — “The Most Merciful”

• Revelation Order: 97
• Event Anchor: Medinan theological and spiritual proclamation (c. 627–630 CE)

Explanation:
Ar-Raḥmān’s refrain—“Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?”—addresses humans and jinn, presenting a panoramic view of divine blessings and cosmic order. While Meccan in tone, strong evidence places it in the Medinan period, where broader audiences including delegations could hear its majestic proclamation. Its structured presentation of paradise and accountability aligns with a mature theological phase. The surah’s balanced tone of mercy and warning fits a community being spiritually refined while interacting with diverse religious and cultural groups during the Prophet’s later years.
