Temporal descriptor.
The pattern of spacing and frequency with which an organism obtains usable energy or resources.
It may be classified as:
- continuous;
- frequent but discrete;
- intermittent;
- strongly pulsed;
- feast-and-famine;
- opportunistic.
It should ideally be quantified using event frequency, duration, variance, and resource amount.
