SURAH 75 — Al-Qiyāmah — القيامة — “The Resurrection”

• Revelation Order: 31
• Event Anchor: Early–mid Meccan confrontation over resurrection (c. 613–617 CE)

Explanation:
Al-Qiyāmah answers one of the central theological disputes in Mecca: denial of bodily resurrection. The surah rebukes claims that God cannot reassemble human remains and exposes the psychological resistance behind that denial. It also reassures the Prophet regarding the reception and recitation of revelation, suggesting a period when his public proclamation was intensifying. The combination of eschatological argument and spiritual guidance fits the early–mid Meccan phase, when disbelief in the afterlife was a major barrier to the acceptance of Islam.

But man desires to continue in sin.5Meccan5556

To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.12Meccan5563

Even if he presents his excuses.15Meccan5566
Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur’an.16Meccan5567
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.17Meccan5568
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.18Meccan5569
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].19Meccan5570
No! But you love the immediate20Meccan5571
And leave the Hereafter.21Meccan5572
[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,22Meccan5573

Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.25Meccan5576
No! When the soul has reached the collar bones26Meccan5577
And it is said, “Who will cure [him]?”27Meccan5578

And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].33Meccan5584
Woe to you, and woe!34Meccan5585
Then woe to you, and woe!35Meccan5586
Does man think that he will be left neglected?36Meccan5587
Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?37Meccan5588
Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him]38Meccan5589
And made of him two mates, the male and the female.39Meccan5590
Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?40Meccan5591
