What This Field Means
The date through which the represented facts are known to apply.
This is the last date through which the represented facts are known to apply. Together with Effective From, it stops an old name, command relationship, location, or configuration from being presented as permanently true.
How to Read It Correctly
Effective To is not automatically an inactivation or decommissioning date. A fact can stop being true because the unit moved, changed command, redesignated, or entered a new documented configuration while the organization continued.

The final date before a documented redesignation took effect.
Technical Specification
The database column is [USMIL-Unit].[Unit].[EffectiveTo]. Optional date marking the end of the represented validity interval. It does not by itself prove inactivation or disestablishment.
Store the supported end date of the represented interval. Leave it blank for an open-ended interval; do not fill it with the last date a source happened to mention the unit.

No preset menu applies to this field. It stores an identifier, relationship, measurement, date, timestamp, or evidence-derived narrative. Valid content is governed by the SQL type, key relationship, nullability, retained evidence, and the field-specific recording rule above. A list of observed contents would be data, not a list of allowed options.
Missing, Unknown, and Conflicting Information
A database NULL is permitted and means that no value is presently stored. It does not prove that the fact never existed, that the answer is no, or that the concept does not apply. Missing information must remain visibly different from a supported negative or inapplicable conclusion.
