Geospatial-Specific Fields

These eight values are extracted from each individual Geospatial file and, only where the format defines a virtual or companion dataset, its uniquely governed source components. They report detected representation, measurable layers, features, attributes, geometry, reference system, exact bounds, and analysis outcome. Inapplicable values remain empty rather than receiving extension-based prose.

Detected Format / Version

Reports the representation detected from the parsed header, XML root, JSON structure, WKT text, or encoding declaration, including Shapefile component version and OGR VRT root type.

Layer / Dataset Count

Counts spatial layers or datasets exposed by the parsed artifact. Sidecars that do not themselves define a layer remain empty instead of inheriting a fabricated count.

Feature / Record Count

Counts parsed spatial features or source records. VRT values come from the uniquely resolved governed source, GeoJSON values from the feature array, and Shapefile values are cross-checked against SHX and DBF headers.

Attribute / Field Count

Counts the attribute fields exposed by the parsed layer. Geometry source columns hidden by an OGR VRT definition are excluded from the presented attribute count.

Geometry Type(s)

Reports the actual geometry types exposed by the parser, such as Point, Polygon, or MultiPolygon. Non-geometry sidecars remain empty.

Coordinate Reference System

Reports the parsed authority reference or spatial reference definition, such as EPSG:4326 or EPSG:4269. A PRJ row reports its own CRS while a CPG or SHX row does not inherit one.

Spatial Extent

Reports the exact X/Y bounds measured by GDAL/OGR or validated against the Shapefile header. A successfully analyzed empty layer has no extent and is explicitly marked Empty.

Analysis Status

Reports Analyzed or Empty from the file-level extraction. Missing and inapplicable measurements remain NULL rather than receiving copied family facts or boilerplate descriptions.
