What This Field Means
The documented research or review method that produced the present record.
This identifies the research, extraction, normalization, or review process that produced the current record state. It allows later maintainers to understand which rules were applied and to find records that may need reprocessing after standards change.
How to Read It Correctly
Process Version is not a military fact, source citation, confidence score, or public version of the unit. It describes database provenance only.
Example
A versioned identity-resolution batch label.
Technical Specification
The database column is [USMIL-Unit].[Unit].[ProcessVersion]. Required provenance string identifying the processing version or exact review batch. It is an audit value, not a characteristic of the military unit.
Use a stable, documented version or batch identifier that can be traced to a defined process. Do not place free-form progress notes or unversioned tool names in this field.

Allowed Values and Definitions
No preset menu applies to this field. It stores an identifier, relationship, measurement, date, timestamp, or evidence-derived narrative. Valid content is governed by the SQL type, key relationship, nullability, retained evidence, and the field-specific recording rule above. A list of observed contents would be data, not a list of allowed options.
Missing, Unknown, and Conflicting Information
This column cannot be NULL in the Unit table. When the underlying fact is incomplete, the record must use an allowed explicit disposition or a supported evidence-derived statement. Required storage does not mean that every historical fact is known, and it never authorizes a guessed value.
Connections to Other Fields
- Record Created Time — When this unit record was first added to the guide’s underlying record system.
- Record Updated Time — When the unit record was most recently revised as evidence or understanding changed.
- Primary Evidence — The principal retained source supporting the unit’s identity in this record.
- Evidence Authority — Why the supporting source is considered reliable enough to establish or describe the unit.
- Unit Confidence — How certain the guide is that the unit identity and its major claims are correct.
